Results of completion of the study programme: obtaining of knowledge and skills in fundamental and applied courses necessary for competence of Masters in Psychology in domestic and foreign markets.

Professional knowledge and skills obtained after completing the programme:

  • to use professional knowledge and practical skills for the planning and organization of research and practice, take a reasoned decision in determining the professional acts to find rational solutions to professional problems;
  • to master technologies (research, organizational and managerial, pedagogical, diagnostic, advisory, correctional and developmental, rehabilitation, psycho-training and others depending on the specialization) to solve psychological problems; as well as the technology of psychodiagnostic examination (collection and processing of empirical data) of clients;
  • to arrange the prevention of conflicts and their resolution through negotiations, conduct a psychological analysis of the personality and interpersonal relationships in groups, develop and implement individual and group psychocorrection programs;
  • to use the knowledge of pedagogy and psychology of teaching in higher education to develop and conduct their professional disciplines; own the technology of teaching and educating students and use them creatively in their professional activities;
  • to master the basic techniques and technologies of social and psychological support and rehabilitation of various categories of the population in difficult life situations;
  • to master the basic techniques and techniques of psychological counseling and strategies for working with different types of clients;

Programme requirements (ECTS credits)

In accordance with the Standard on higher education set for the programme Psychology (Master’s Degree), 90 ECTS credits are awarded in total. The curriculum incorporates: mandatory courses (43.5 ECTS credits), including course paper (1 ECTS credit) and elective courses (22.5 ECTS credits). Internship - 8 ECTS credits. The Comprehensive State Examination in Profession (1.5 ECTS credits). Master’s thesis – 14.5 ECTS credits.

Educational goals of the programme

General goal of the study programme “Counseling and Rehabilitation” (Master’s Degree) is to form a new generation of highly qualified psychologists with an innovative way of thinking, a systematic vision of psychological problems, the latest knowledge and technologies, advanced competencies in psychology, capable of research, applied professional, counseling and rehabilitation activities necessary for successful work in educational institutions, psychological counseling centers for providing psychological and rehabilitation assistance to the population; medical and preventive medical institutions and social care institutions; centres of practical psychology and social work; subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Emergencies; recruitment companies and enterprises

The programme’s educational goals are designed to:

- ensure training of Masters in Psychology in accordance with the requirements of the labour market in the formation of competencies and increase of quality by implementing educational innovations;

- to train qualified professionals competent in matters of social and psychological rehabilitation and psychological counseling (personal, family, business, professional counseling and others), professionally capable of providing assistance to clients in difficult life situations;

- to train qualified professionals who can find rational solutions to psychological problems and requests, analyze social behavior, the activities of people, social groups, taking into account psychological factors;

- to train qualified professionals capable of critically comprehending the problems of counseling psychology and its applied aspects and possess knowledge of modern methods of counseling psychology. Know modern methods of group socio-psychological work (individual and group psychocorrection) techniques for stabilizing stress states after traumatic stress and post-traumatic stress disorder;

- to train qualified professionals who are competent in field of psychological counseling, professionally capable of solving problems for the effective development of personal qualities and the full existence of a person in society;

- to train qualified professionals who can find rational solutions to individual and social problems, analyze conflict situations and the behavior of people, social groups, taking into account psychological factors;

- training of qualified specialists for Counseling and Rehabilitation with individuals who require diagnostics and solutions to various psychological problems. Formulate professional tasks in research and practice, find conclusions in various types of psychological research, make reasoned decisions when determining professional actions;

- to train professionals capable of conducting scientific and project research and / or implementing innovations using valid and reliable methods;

- provide students with effective technologies (research, organizational and managerial, pedagogical, diagnostic, advisory, training, correctional and developmental, rehabilitation and others depending on socialization) for solving complex problems in the learning process and professional activity in the field of psychology;

- training of qualified professionals capable of carrying out professional activities taking into account universal human values and the norms of professional ethics of a psychologist;

- develop the students' ability to organize the prevention of conflicts, psychological analysis of individuals and interpersonal relationships in groups, mastering the psychological tools to stimulate workers, taking into consideration the requirements of potential domestic workers; use means of optimal impact on employees to create the appropriate social and psychological climate in a team;

- develop skills in learning to control units, teams of experts, projects and programmes, form skills of introspection and correction of personal activities;

- develop graduates as social individuals who can solve certain problems and challenges of communication and social activities, use psychological mechanisms and patterns analysis of specific issues of business communication; apply effective techniques of conflict resolution through the negotiation process;

- improve the learning skills that allow them to continue their education under the concept "Education for Life" on the basis of autonomy;

- use knowledge of psychology of higher education teaching methods to develop their professional disciplines.
